Back when dinosaurs ruled the earth a small independent rep firm in Mexia Texas was established with the sole purpose of finding something to sell and someone to sell it to. Mr Dan Beene stumbled upon a small Refrigerant manufacturing firm trying it’s best to compete with the giant Dupont Chemical Co. who seemed to have a lock on the supply chain in the local HVAC market with their “patented” Freon product. Well, Dan being Dan and not one to back down from a challenge took on the assignment and the Dan Beene Sales Company was born. As soon as the dinosaurs were killed off by COVID-18 and folks felt safe to come outside, Dan quickly endeared himself to the local distributors and other Manufactures in the HVAC industry wanted to jump on board his sales wagon and his line card started to grow.
A short while later, well OK a few years later, and a little further north, there was gentleman straight out of Lubbock flopping his way between the oil industry and the plumbing industry. And like any bright eyed young Texan, the oil industry fed him a constant supply of pot of gold dreams with Texas Tea streaming everywhere. And each time Mr Pete Jennings felt that pot in reach it slipped away and he literally fell in the muck as the plumbing industry was there to help him get back on his feet. It continued this way for some time until his father-in-law, Mr Dan Wilson a highly successful HVAC Industry Rep in his own right, decided he needed someone to teach this industry to and to groom his heir apparent. Thankfully for you, me and the rest of the HVAC world Pete joined Wilson’s Rep firm in Dallas where Pete no longer had to chase elusive black gold or unclog the latest toilet stopper ever again.
Dan Beene & Pete Jennings formed a fast friendship shortly thereafter and when Pete was ready to venture out on his own, Dan Beene was there to mentor him thru some of the initial hurdles and offer advice over the consumption of several Miller Lites. During this time, Pete ended up meeting Mr Mike LeProhon who became one of his Sales Managers and a new friendship was born. Mike had just recently moved to Texas so he and Pete got to hang out together more than other rep firms around the country and a long term trust was quickly established. Mike has been in the HVAC industry in some capacity or other for almost 30 years, most of that on the west coast in California. Having landed in Texas in 2004, Mike found himself looking for a new opportunity & a new direction in which to take his career in the winter of 2010. Surely there had to be something better out there for him. Enter Pete Jennings who just 2 short years prior had joined forces with Dan Beene to form the Beene & Jennings Company who’s formidable line card did a lot to strengthen their position at both customer and manufacturer at the same time. Anyway, Pete asked Mike not to make a decision about his future employment direction until they were able to sit down over real adult beverages and fancy cigars to discuss an idea. After many weeks that discussion took place and the end result beyond a hangover was that Mike joined the Beene & Jennings Company and hasn’t looked back since. He still drinks. But he doesn’t look back.
Many years prior to that Dan Beene had run across Mr Robert Mills sweeping the floor over at IT’LL WORK HVAC SUPPLY where Robert was on the fast track to learning the HVAC industry and meeting everyone that he could Knowing Dan Beene in his floor sweeping days would pay dividends for Robert’s future. But at the time neither he nor Dan knew it and just five short years after Mike became the third Musketeer at Beene & Jennings, it was time for Robert Mills to assume the roll of D’Artagnan. And he brought with him a mighty sword and the skills to wield it across south Texas.
Since then these 4 guys have combined their extensive experience of the Texas HVAC industry and have had to turn down several great opportunities to represent other companies primarily because they are laser focused on finding something in their current line card to sell to someone in their current geography. A winning philosophy if there ever was onE.
